Speaking on the occasion of AGM of Sugar Co-op Federation NFCSF at NCUI headquarters in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh sugarcane minister Suresh Rana thanked the dynamic Chief Minister of UP for clearing dues of sugarcane farmers and reviving half a dozen distilleries in the state.
“When the Yogi govt came to power in 2017, there were dues of Rs 5000 to be paid to farmers; the state affairs were chaotic with dharana and pradashan on the streets. In a period of two years the Chief Minister paid all the dues”, said Rana explaining the good work being done by Yogi.
UP also claimed its numero uno position in Yogi’s regime by producing 120 lakh tonnes of sugar which is 38% of national output, stated the Minister. “This year the CM said that sugar mills would run till the farmers have their even small batch of crop in the field; you would not believe but it was till June 23rd that sugar mill functioned under the strict instruction of the CM”, Rana underlined.
Chief minister Yogi Adityanath has also directed the cooperative department to take steps to bring to life again half a dozen distilleries which are not functioning. The government will spend Rs 1.56 billion on it. This is expected to ease problems likely to arise out of the coming massive sugarcane crushing season, reports Business Standard.
These cooperative distilleries had been shut non-compliance of environmental norms. A source says the revival plan will come to fruition by the end of this year.
The six distilleries are projected to process 0.28 million tonnes (MT) of molasses (a sugar byproduct) annually to produce ethanol and organic manure.
