The Rajasthan government is set to bring in a new Cooperative Act to replace the Rajasthan Cooperative Act, 2001, aiming to boost transparency, speed up decision-making, and curb irregularities in cooperative societies, media reports say.
Officials described the proposed legislation as a “new cooperative code” focused on simplifying procedures, strengthening democratic governance, and fostering accountability and business growth within the sector.
A five-member committee had earlier been formed to draft the law after examining cooperative models in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Kerala.
The government hopes the updated framework will make cooperatives more efficient and better aligned with current economic needs.
