In a major push towards strengthening and modernising Rajasthan’s cooperative banking system, a high-level committee and the 62nd State Level Task Force meeting was held at NABARD’s regional office under the chairmanship of Principal Cooperation Secretary Samit Sharma.
Reviewing the performance of cooperative banks for the quarter and financial year ending March 31, 2026, Dr. Sharma directed banks to ensure strict compliance with KYC norms and provisions under the Banking Regulation Act. He stressed the need for greater transparency, accountability and timely corrective action to strengthen the cooperative banking structure.
Special focus was laid on improving the financial position of Pali and Jaisalmer Central Cooperative Banks, while banks receiving weak ‘C’ and ‘D’ NABARD ratings were instructed to prepare turnaround plans with monthly monitoring.
Highlighting the Centre’s “Sahkar Se Samriddhi” campaign, Dr. Sharma directed authorities to complete computerisation of 6,781 PACS by June 30 and accelerate the formation of new multipurpose PACS.
In a significant rural banking initiative, around 12,000 PACS and primary dairy cooperative societies functioning as Bank Mitras will soon be equipped with micro ATMs with NABARD assistance to provide doorstep banking services to farmers and livestock owners.
He also directed cooperative banks to expand mobile banking services and issue RuPay debit cards to customers on demand.
