Rajasthan ATS nabs fraudsters behind Co-op scam

In a major breakthrough, the Rajasthan Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) has arrested two absconding criminals involved in the multi-crore Sarvodaya Cooperative Society scam, under its special operations ‘Devil Lion’ and ‘Tandon’.

The accused, Shailendra Singh and Rishiraj, both residents of Sirohi, had been on the run since 2017 and carried a reward of Rs 25,000 each announced by the Jalore Police. For nearly eight years, they managed to hoodwink the police while over 30 criminal cases remained pending against them.

Investigations revealed that the duo, along with their associates, lured innocent investors with promises of doubling their money and siphoned off crores of rupees. After the society stopped repayments in 2012–13, FIRs were registered across Jalore, Pali, and Sirohi, exposing the massive fraud.

ATS tracked the accused to Jaipur’s Jhotwara area, where Shailendra Singh was living under the guise of a homeopathic doctor. ATS officers, posing as patients, raided his flat in MD Residency and arrested both fraudsters.

ATS IGP Vikas Kumar lauded the team’s efforts, announcing they will be honored for their exemplary action. He also appealed to the public to share information on criminals through ATS’ control room or WhatsApp helpline, assuring full confidentiality.
