Sharad Maind, Chairman of Pusad Urban Co-operative Bank, and moneylender Manjit Singh Wade have been arrested in connection with the suicide of government contractor P.V. Verma (alias Munna) on September 1, media reports say.
An FIR filed at Sadar police station alleges Verma was subjected to years of financial harassment, coercive lending practices, and threats. He was reportedly forced to take loans using credentials of unrelated individuals, pressured to mortgage properties, and saw properties auctioned below value.
Verma’s widow, Anuradha, filed the complaint. Charges include abetment to suicide. Wade, who has a past murder case, was also implicated.
