The Punjab government has reduced the registration fee for new agriculture, dairy and fisheries cooperative societies from Rs 10,000 to Rs 1,000, aiming to boost cooperative formation across the state.
An official spokesperson said the move would make it easier for producers, especially small and marginal farmers, to organise themselves without facing high upfront costs.
The decision is expected to encourage wider participation in cooperatives and strengthen collective marketing.
The government said the step reaffirms its commitment to promoting cooperatives as key drivers of rural economic development and farmer livelihoods.
