The election process of Pune District Cooperative Bank is underway and at present candidates are busy filling the nomination papers. The election of the bank is slated for 2nd January.
The candidates can file their nomination papers till 6th December and the scrutiny will be held on 7th December. The candidates can withdraw their nomination papers from 8 December to 22nd December 2021. The counting of votes will be done on 4th January and the result will be announced soon after the counting. The bank board comprises 21 directors.
Meanwhile, the current chairman and former MLA Ramesh Thorat has also filed the nomination papers from Daund taluka in the Pune district. Talking to Indian Cooperative Thorat said, “So far no one has filed the nomination papers against me but the full picture would be clear on the last date of filing the nomination papers”.
Besides, Minister of State for Public Works Dattatray Bharne has also filed his nomination papers to contest the election of the bank on Wednesday.
Soon after filing the nomination papers, Bharne wrote on social media, “Filed nomination papers for the Board of Directors of Pune District Central Co-operative Bank for the five-year election to the Returning Officer today. We are committed to doing work in the interest of farmers through the District Bank”.
Interestingly Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and Home Minister Dilip Walse Patil are also on the board of the bank.
Amidst Covid-19, the bank earned a gross profit to the tune of Rs 282.51 crore in the 2020-21 financial year which is the highest ever in its 104 years of history. The bank crossed a business mix of Rs 19000 crore.
