Pulses & Oilseeds: NAFED, NCCF to lead massive procurement

Union Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has approved a comprehensive procurement plan worth Rs 15,095.83 crore for pulses and oilseeds in Telangana, Odisha, Maharashtra, and Madhya Pradesh for the Kharif 2025–26 season. The move, under PM-AASHA and allied schemes, aims to ensure remunerative prices and income stability for farmers.

A key highlight of this initiative is the pivotal role assigned to NAFED and NCCF which will jointly undertake 100% procurement of tur, urad, and masoor under the Price Support Scheme. Their nationwide network and efficient cooperative structure are expected to guarantee smooth procurement operations and direct benefit transfer to farmers.

The Minister said this record procurement drive reflects the government’s commitment to protect farmers from market volatility while moving towards self-reliance in pulses production. He also directed that NAFED and NCCF ensure transparent, timely payments and strict monitoring to uphold farmers’ trust.
