Procurement Paralysis: Its now Hafed’s turn!

Tribune reports an alleged scam of over Rs 200 crore in procurement of mustard has broken in Haryana and the Agriculture Department of the state has sought an inquiry by the State Vigilance Bureau.

Sources say the state government had procured mustard on MSP of Rs 4,000 per quintal for Nafed under the price support scheme.

About 27 lakh quintals of mustard was procured from across the state, out of which 23.5 lakh quintals was purchased by Hafed and 3.41 lakh quintals by Food, Civil Supplies and Consumers Affairs Department.

Allegation is Hafed officials showed purchases in papers and even released the payments, but when it came to counting of the stock, the crop stacked in godowns was found much less than the purchased. FIRs have been lodged against the accused Hafed officials.
