Prayagraj district has emerged as the frontrunner in enrolling farmers into Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies (PACS), adding 34,154 members in a month-the highest in the division, media reports say.
Launched on September 12 with a target of 40,000 members, the drive also strengthened cooperative finances, generating Rs 76.47 lakh through share sales at Rs 100 each across 235 PACS. Pratapgarh, Kaushambi, and Fatehpur recorded smaller numbers.
The campaign aims to connect more farmers with cooperatives for wider access to government and co-op benefits. Going forward, fertilisers will be distributed exclusively to registered members, and Jan Seva and Jan Aushadhi Kendras are being established at PACS to support farmers.
