Post NCCT delink, NCUI holds AGM today

The Annual General Body meeting of the national apex cooperative body NCUI will take place today Wednesday. Delegates from across states have been occupying different co-op guest houses of the town since last evening. The AGM would be held at the apex body’s Auditorium at Siri Fort Road in Delhi.

The AGM would be taking place for the first time after the severance of its prestigious arm-NCCT.

In the last AGM, NCUI President Dr Chandra Pal Singh Yadav had demanded creation of a separate Union Cooperative Ministry. Govt, instead created a separate training institute and delinked NCCT from NCUI.

The matter is sure to come up in the AGM, said a few cooperators. “It is after all the highest body”, they said.

The court case in the matter of NCCT has remained inconclusive so far with the next hearing in October. The NCUI’s legal experts are confident of winning the case but one has to wait, said cooperators connected to NCUI.

It bears recall that NCUI had received a letter from Agriculture Ministry with the title “Establishing National Council of Cooperative Training (NCCT) as an independent, Central and Professional entity-delinking from National Cooperative Union of India”.

The letter says that due to NCUI’s control, NCCT failed to achieve its aims. The reputation of its premier institute VAMNICOM also suffered due to intense politicking and mismanagement. These facts are vehemently opposed by the NCUI.
