Politics has weakened co-op movement: Goa CM

Inaugurating the ‘Cooperative Week’ celebrations in Panjim on Monday Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said only if politics is kept out of the cooperative movement could it lead to prosperity, reports local media.

Sawant said despite Goa having very old cooperative bodies, the cooperative sector has not made much progress, he said.

The chief minister said vested interests involved in politics have destroyed several co-operative societies in the state.
