The Prime Minister will release the 21st instalment of PM-KISAN on November 19, continuing the Centre’s direct income support of Rs 6,000 annually to eligible farmer families.
Since its launch in 2019, the scheme has transferred over Rs 3.7 lakh crore to more than 11 crore farmers, making it one of the world’s largest DBT programmes. With Aadhaar-linked verification, e-KYC, and land record authentication, the scheme ensures transparent and hassle-free delivery of benefits, including over 25% going to women farmers.
Technological upgrades such as Aadhaar-based payments, OTP, biometric and face-authentication e-KYC, and the PM-KISAN mobile app have strengthened access. Farmers can check their status and register easily through the portal’s “Farmers Corner,” CSCs, or IPPB’s doorstep banking.
A robust grievance redressal system via the portal, CPGRAMS, and the AI-powered Kisan-eMitra chatbot-available 24/7 in 11 regional languages-further enhances farmer support.
Studies indicate that PM-KISAN has boosted rural growth, eased credit constraints, and encouraged productive farm investments. The new Farmer Registry will simplify access to welfare schemes through a unified, verified database.
