Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday launched the Pradhan Mantri Dhan Dhanya Krishi Yojana (PM-DDKY) and the Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses, landmark initiatives aimed at promoting sustainable and inclusive growth in agriculture and allied sectors.
Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Panchayati Raj, Rajiv Ranjan Singh (Lalan Singh), stated that these schemes, through convergence, innovation, and inclusive development, will transform India’s agrarian districts.
At the event, the Prime Minister inaugurated 16 major animal husbandry projects worth Rs 947 crore and laid the foundation for one key project worth Rs 219 crore. In the fisheries sector, he inaugurated nine projects worth Rs 121 crore and laid foundations for seven projects worth Rs 572 crore.
Singh highlighted that these sectors now support over 10 crore livelihoods, with women comprising more than 70% of the dairy workforce. He noted remarkable achievements in milk and fish production, cattle productivity, and nationwide livestock vaccination drives.
The Minister emphasized that PM-DDKY strengthens rural income, promotes technology-led growth, and positions agriculture, fisheries, and dairying as pillars of Atmanirbhar Bharat.
