PM calls for Global Partnerships to strengthen Indian Co-ops
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has emphasized the need for strategic partnerships with global cooperative organizations to expand and modernize India’s cooperative sector. He stressed that collaboration with international cooperatives could bring in best practices, technological advancements, and new market opportunities, ultimately enhancing the efficiency and competitiveness of Indian cooperatives.

Highlighting the potential of the sector, Modi called for promoting organic products through cooperatives, leveraging them to tap into growing export markets. He also underscored the need to develop a structured soil testing model through cooperatives, aiming to improve agricultural productivity and sustainability. By equipping farmers with scientific soil health insights, this initiative could lead to better crop planning and increased yields.

To facilitate seamless financial transactions for farmers and cooperative members, the Prime Minister advocated integrating UPI with RuPay Kisan Credit Cards (KCC). This move would enhance financial inclusion, providing easier access to credit and digital transactions in rural areas.

Furthermore, Modi stressed the importance of fostering healthy competition among cooperative organizations. Encouraging performance-based rankings and best practice sharing, he asserted, would drive innovation, efficiency, and self-sufficiency within the sector. The discussions align with the government’s broader vision of strengthening cooperatives as key players in India’s economic growth and rural development.
