Maharashtra’s sugar mills will soon form Covid-19 care centres for sugarcane cutters ahead of the sugar season of 2020-21, reports Financial Express.
The initiative has followed NCP supremo Sharad Pawar’s appeal to mill owners to establish such centers.
It is said every season nearly 10 lakh workers are involved in crushing operations.
Govt officials have voiced optimism saying mill owners will make necessary efforts in this regard.
