In a unique convergence of health and cooperative development, the Cooperation Department of Pakyong District in Sikkim organized a health camp at the Bering-Tareythang Multi-Purpose Cooperative Society (MPCS) Ltd on Monday.
The event was part of the 50th Statehood Day celebrations of Sikkim and the International Year of Cooperatives 2025.
Held in collaboration with the Zilla Panchayat of Bering-Tareythang-Sudunglakha and the Department of Health & Family Welfare, the camp focused on delivering essential medical services to rural residents, especially women. Services included general health check-ups, dental care, eye testing, AYUSH consultations, and specialized gynecological screenings with dedicated privacy corners for women.
The event was graced by Zilla Member Mrs Ranjana Rasaily, Additional Registrar Mrs Kesang Yanki, DPO Sonam Zangpo Bhutia, and officials from relevant departments. Healthcare professionals such as Dr Lidiya Rai, Dr Kulyan Lama, and others conducted the camp.
Mrs Yanki praised the Tareythang MPCS for its multi-sectoral initiatives, calling it a model cooperative. She also announced upcoming grassroots activities like plantation drives and awareness campaigns.
The camp witnessed enthusiastic participation, especially from women members, underscoring the cooperative’s role as a community-oriented institution.
