The Telangana High Court has ruled that authorities of district cooperative societies cannot directly attach properties of relatives or legal heirs of those accused of fund misappropriation in Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies (PACS), media reports say.
Justice T Madhavi Devi quashed attachment orders in three petitions, stressing that due process must be followed before targeting third-party assets.
In one case, a petitioner’s self-acquired properties worth over Rs 74 lakh, allegedly linked to her husband, a PACS CEO accused of misusing funds, were illegally attached. The case relates to the Primary Agricultural Cooperative Society (PACS), Yamapur in Telangana.
