PACS ATMs bring banking closer to Bihar villages

Villagers in Bihar’s Jehanabad district can now deposit or withdraw up to Rs 20,000 using ATM cards at Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS). The Co-operative Bank has equipped 14 PACS with micro ATMs, with 69 more to follow, media reports say.

Earlier, people had to travel to towns for ATMs, often facing cash shortages. Managed by NABARD and monitored by Magadh Central Bank, the service is running in several blocks, including Jehanabad, Kako, and Ghosi.

With one PACS in every panchayat, the initiative offers wide reach and convenience, easing daily financial needs in rural areas.
