Overwhelmed by Shah’s commitment to co-ops: Amin
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Welcoming Union Minister Amit Shah, CM Bhupendra Patel and all guests, G H Amin, in his address said that in his 35 years of experience in the national cooperative sector, he has never seen a minister like Amitbhai Shah, who, despite his Home Ministry responsibilities, regularly engages with cooperative boards, listens to diverse perspectives, and addresses key challenges.

Upon taking charge, Amitbhai Shah adopted a proactive approach, convening meetings with office bearers, experts, and board members from various national-level cooperative institutions, said Amin.

Amin also highlighted initiatives by the Ministry of Co-operation, including the establishment of the National Co-operative Exports Limited (NCEL), which aims to help farmers secure better prices through cooperative channels. He reported that NCEL earned a profit of Rs 122 crores, enabling a 20% dividend distribution to its members.

He noted that the United Nations has declared 2025 as the International Year of Cooperatives, with the theme “Cooperatives Build a Better World.” Prime Minister Narendrabhai Modi inaugurated the International Year of Cooperatives on 25th November 2024 in New Delhi.

He said “The Prime Minister also introduced the slogan “Prosperity through Co-operation.” To realize this vision 75 years after independence, he took a significant step by creating a dedicated Ministry of Co-operation and entrusted its leadership to Amitbhai Shah.”

On cooperative education, Amin noted that the Gujarat State Co-operative Union has been providing education since 1960 and possesses the necessary infrastructure. He announced the upcoming launch of Tribhuvan Sahakari University, which will train professionals and technocrats for the cooperative sector.

The Gujarat State Co-operative Union organized a State Level Mega Co-operative Convention – 2025 on 18th May 2025, Sunday, at Vigyan Bhavan, Science City Complex, Sola, Ahmedabad. The event was inaugurated by Union Minister of Home and Co-operation Amitbhai Shah and attended by Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel and Minister of State for Co-operation Jagdishbhai Vishwakarma.

The convention, presided over by Ghanshyambhai Amin, attracted around 5,000 delegates from a wide spectrum of cooperative institutions, ranging from primary societies to state-level bodies. It was also graced by several distinguished dignitaries and cooperative leaders.
