As in the past, once again agri co-op Nafed has moved forward to help the govt check spiraling onion prices which have already become Rs 40 per kg in Delhi now.  Nafed MD Sanjeev Chadha has promised make efforts to ensure onion price stabilization.

“The National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India (Nafed) will offload 200 tonnes of onion daily from 22 October onwards in Delhi from the government’s buffer stock”, said its MD Sanjeev Chadha.

It bears recall that it was after many years that NAFED held its AGM last month with a clean slate as all its debt have been paid off.

Modi govt helped in the revival of NAFED, a result of which Nafed could procure oilseeds and pulses worth Rs 35 thousand crore in the last four years said its Chairman. Nafed MD Sanjiv Kumar Chadha informed that Nafed has procured pulses and oilseeds from 11 states and earned an operational profit of Rs 226 crore and a gross profit of more than Rs 250 cr.
