One-man, one vote in Italian co-operatives

Reuters reports from Italy that the Prime Minister Matteo Renzi needs to seek Parliamentary approval for his one-man, one-vote decree that was started in January in cooperative organizations.

A person may have many shares in a cooperative organization but the principle of one-man, one-vote makes him equal to those who have just one share in terms of voting rights.

The Agency reports that once passed by Parliament the rule may affect the fortune of several cooperative banks called “popolari” in Italy.
