The Office of Cooperative Ombudsman under the Ministry of Cooperation has directed the Indian People Multi State Multi-Purpose Cooperative Society Ltd. to release a fixed deposit claim to nominee Smt. Aruna Wankar within 30 days.

The order follows a complaint filed by Wankar on January 6, 2026, regarding a Rs 50,000 fixed deposit made by her late mother, Smt. Sulochana Sambhaji Raipure, in 2015 for seven years. After her mother’s demise in April 2025, Wankar submitted multiple requests to claim the deposit along with interest. However, her applications were returned with remarks such as “refused.”

Despite notices and reminders issued by the Ombudsman’s office, the society failed to respond. The authority observed that the society showed no intent to settle the claim.

Issuing the order, Cooperative Ombudsman Alok Agarwal directed the society to pay the due amount with applicable interest and submit a compliance report immediately after execution.
