Odisha plans to establish ‘Model Primary Agricultural Credit Societies’ (PACS) in all 314 blocks, announced Co-operation Minister Pradeep Bal Samanta during the 72nd All India Cooperative Week celebrations.
Highlighting the role of cooperatives in rural development and self-reliance, he emphasized that these societies empower communities and foster sustainable growth. Addressing concerns over corruption in cooperatives, the Minister stated that PACS will soon be digitized to curb unethical practices.
Cooperatives, voluntary organisations based on mutual assistance, primarily serve disadvantaged communities by pooling resources for collective economic benefits rather than profit, strengthening social and economic welfare across the State.
