Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced major dairy sector reforms during a function at OMFED’s Arilo plant in Cuttack. In partnership with the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), OMFED will help provide 4,000 high-yield cows and set up a cow dung biogas plant, aiming to empower over 15 lakh dairy farmers.
Under the Kamdhenu Yojana, the state targets distribution of 10,000 cows and offers financial aid to 70% of farmers. Majhi aims to increase milk production from 72 lakh litres to 274 lakh litres by 2047.
Infrastructure upgrades include milk tanks, packing machines, and staff quarters. OMFED’s diverse dairy products are generating youth employment, and a new pact will supply 30 MT ghee for Lord Jagannath’s Mahaprasad. Several senior officials and ministers were present at the event.
