The Odisha State Cooperative Bank (OSCB) has come under scrutiny after an enquiry report from the Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Odisha, flagged unethical and illegal activities within the institution.

The report raised concerns over expenses claimed by the Bank’s President, T. Prasad Rao Dora.

According to the findings, Dora received Daily Allowance (DA) from OSCB for his participation in the ICA CCR Global European Cooperative Research Conference held in Leuven, Belgium, from July 10–14, 2023. The report stated that the DA payment exceeded his entitlement and should not have been claimed or reimbursed.

In a formal communication, the Bank’s Managing Director directed Dora to refund Rs 1,86,555 (One Lakh Eighty-Six Thousand Five Hundred Fifty-Five only), the excess amount received under this head.

The development has stirred debate in cooperative banking circles, with stakeholders awaiting further action from the Bank and regulatory authorities.
