Odisha State Co-op Union Chief arrested

The latest development in the multi-crore chit fund scam in Odisha is the arrest of former BJD leader Pravat Tripathy who as president of Odisha state cooperative union had recommended the chief scanster Pradeep Sethy of the Artha Tatwa Multi-cooperative Society for the award of ‘best youth cooperator’.

The 14 persons have been arrested in this connection. The main accusation is that the dubious award helped Mr. Sethy collect a considerable amount of money from investors across Odisha.

Mr. Sethy is presently in jail. Sources say the way the CBI investigation is developing many other politicians are likely to be taken into custody.
