Farmers have accused the Singidi Primary Agricultural Cooperative Society of widespread corruption, citing irregularities in loan disbursement, fertiliser supply, and insurance fund allocation, media reports say.
Alleged forgery of signatures by the society’s management reportedly manipulated loan approvals, affecting 1,500–1,700 borrowers. Farmers claim discrepancies in records, inflated loan amounts, and coercion in repayments.
Additional complaints include misallocation of subsidies and insurance payments from 2019–20 and improper adjustment of cash transactions against loans.
Local leaders said these irregularities caused financial losses and hardships for small holders dependent on timely cooperative support, highlighting systemic flaws that undermine trust in the society’s operations.
