New Indian Express reports the Odisha govt. has instructed the Coop Dept to identify PACS that can function as multi-purpose cooperatives so they turn viable and diversify their business activities at the panchayat level.
The model by-laws prepared by the Ministry of Cooperation will help PACS undertake more than 25 business activities like dairy, fishery, setting up of godowns, procurement of food grains, sale of fertilisers, seeds, LPG, CNG, petrol and diesel.
With 2,710 functional PACS in Odisha , the state government has created 1,503 new primary societies.
