The growth of dairy co-ops in the Balangir district of Odisha has checked migration of people to other states including Telangana, reports the New Indian Express.
It is said scores of women who were likely to end up being migrant workers in Telangana are now earning significant incomes through cooperative dairy farming across villages in Balangir.
A source claims that Balangir produces 35,000 liters of milk per day against its requirement of 10,000 liters.
