Odisha: Co-op bank cheats depositors

Times of India reports employees of a cooperative bank in a village in Odisha have cheated depositors of their money from savings accounts. The embezzled amount is Rs 50 lakh.

The scam came to light when a depositor’s account did not show the amount he had deposited. The accused employees are working in Palei cooperative society mini bank at Adhangamalikeswarpur village in Derabishi block of Kendrapada district in Odisha.

The account holders have protested and demanded police action against the corrupt officials.

Over fifty other account holders have been cheated, a villager claimed. There are around 2,806 account holders.
