The National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC), in collaboration with the Ministry of Cooperation, Government of India, organized a workshop for State Level Federations of the North-Eastern region in Guwahati, Assam.
The program aimed to familiarize participants with flagship schemes such as the Fisheries and Aquaculture Infrastructure Development Fund (FIDF), the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY), and the Fisheries Business Incubation Centre, encouraging stakeholders to utilize these initiatives for the region’s growth.
Hitesh Kewalramani, Assistant Director, NCDC Regional Office Guwahati, delivered an informative session highlighting NCDC’s financing schemes, the Farmer Producer Organization (FPO) programs, and the Credit Guarantee Scheme for FPOs (CGSFPO).
He emphasized the importance of convergence between NCDC initiatives and Central and State Government programs, underlining the potential of cooperative-led development in the fisheries and allied sectors.
The workshop witnessed active participation from representatives of NABARD, the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), the National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB), Pharmaceuticals & Medical Devices Bureau of India (PMBI), and organizations such as NCOL and BBSSL.
Their involvement expanded the scope of discussions, offering a collaborative platform to strengthen fisheries infrastructure, promote entrepreneurship, and enhance cooperative development in the North-East.
