The Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying (DAHD) has invited nominations for the National Gopal Ratna Awards 2025, among the highest honours in India’s livestock and dairy sector. Entries open on August 15 and close on September 15, with awards to be presented on National Milk Day, November 26.
Instituted under the Rashtriya Gokul Mission in 2021, the awards recognise dairy farmers, cooperatives, Milk Producer Companies, Dairy Farmer Producer Organizations, and Artificial Insemination Technicians for their contributions in promoting indigenous cattle and buffalo breeds.
Awards will be given in three categories, Best Dairy Farmer, Best Dairy Cooperative/MPC/FPO, and Best AIT, with additional special awards for the North Eastern Region and Himalayan States.
Winners in farmer and cooperative categories will receive cash prizes of Rs 5 lakh, Rs 3 lakh, and Rs 2 lakh for the top three positions, along with certificates and mementoes. The initiative highlights the role of indigenous bovine breeds in strengthening rural livelihoods and supporting the national economy.
