There is no talk of me joining Rajya Sabha: Marathe

Satish Marathe, patron of Sahakar Bharati has vehemently denied media reports hinting at his likely nomination to the Upper House of Parliament from Maharashtra.

Marathe denied it flatly; “there is nothing like this”, he said to Indian Cooperative on the phone. But sources say given a disciplined soldier that he is, he cannot deny the order of the organization should such an offer come.

According to a report in The New Indian Express Satish Marathe, Patron of Sahakar Bharati may be one of the candidates from Maharashtra to be nominated to Rajya Sabha by the Bhartiya Janata Party. In its report the daily writes “Marthe could turn out to be a dark horse in keeping with the BJP leadership’s penchant for putting up unexpected names.”

It is being said that given the strength of BJP in the state legislature it can send three candidates to the RS from Maharashtra.

Meanwhile, Marathe is busy touring the country to firm up Sahakar Bharati network in states. He is credited with coming up with the idea of Sahakar 22 with NCDC. Sahakar 22 is a novel concept aimed at achieving rural prosperity through co-operatives by 2022. Marathe is on the board of NCDC.
