No Model State Co-op Act formulated yet: Amit Shah

The Centre has not formulated any Model State Cooperative Act so far, Union Minister for Cooperation Amit Shah informed the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday.

Replying to a question raised by Rajya Sabha MP Sikander Kumar, Shah said that no model legislation has been prepared by the Central Government for states to adopt in line with the 97th Constitutional Amendment.

The question sought details regarding the progress on the adoption of a Model Act by states to align their cooperative laws with the constitutional amendment and the Centre’s plan to harmonise different state cooperative legislations to create a uniform national cooperative ecosystem.

In his reply, the minister clarified that since no Model State Cooperative Act has been formulated so far.
