A few tribal women from the Nilgiris district of Tamil Nadu have set up a cooperative to sell forest produce, reports IANS.
The cooperative called Nilakottai Kattunayakan Women’s Cottage industry is set up at Achutham moola at Kottayimedu. Presently, the cooperative is selling four varieties of honey at reasonable prices.
The cooperative will soon start selling produce like yams, ginger, wild turmeric, wild amla, and medicinal herbs as well. Twenty one women are working for the cooperative.
