A detailed presentation on the recent study tour of Brazil by a high-level delegation from the National Federation of Cooperative Sugar Factories (NFCSF) was made before Sharad Pawar at the Maharashtra Sahakar Vikas Mahamandal, Pune.
The two-hour session included an in-depth review of the challenges facing the sugar sector and a forward-looking discussion on potential solutions.
On the occasion, NFCSF Chairman Harshvardhan Patil, Dilip Walse Patil, Vivek Kolhe, local MLAs, and other dignitaries were present.
It bears recalling that the visit, conducted under the India-Brazil Sugar and Bio-Energy Mission, was aimed at exploring global best practices in sugar production, ethanol blending, and bio-energy.
During the tour, the delegation visited Brazil’s Usina Sugar Factory, which has a crushing capacity of 21,000 TCD and a 48 MW co-generation unit. They also attended a technical workshop at RnR Advogados in Campinas and toured the Centro de Tecnologia Canavieira (CTC), the world’s largest sugarcane research center.
Sources said the presentation sparked robust discussions on policy reforms, technological adoption, and collaborative ventures to promote a more sustainable future for India’s sugar sector.
