Lieutenant Governor K Kailashnathan inaugurated the Diamond Jubilee celebrations of the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) in Puducherry, praising Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel for founding India’s cooperative sector.
He emphasized Patel’s role in advancing the dairy and housing cooperatives, noting India’s growing exports of milk powder, mangoes, and mustard, supported by the Centre’s focus on cooperatives, including the proposed National Cooperative University.
Chief Minister N Rangasamy highlighted Puducherry’s daily milk deficit met by other states.
NDDB Chairman Meenesh C Shah projected India will supply one-third of global milk demand within a decade, aiming to include 75,000 villages in cooperatives.
