NCUI Training Participants visit Surat Cooperatives

Participants of a three-day training programme on “Formation of Cooperative Societies,” organised by the National Cooperative Union of India (NCUI) in collaboration with the Gujarat State Cooperative Union (GSCU), undertook a study visit to key cooperative institutions in Surat as part of the programme’s practical learning component.

The visit, held on June 24, formed the second-day activity of the training programme being conducted at the JCTC campus in Surat. The objective was to provide participants with first-hand exposure to successful cooperative institutions and their functioning.

The trainees visited SUMUL Dairy, one of Gujarat’s leading dairy cooperatives, where they were briefed on milk procurement, processing, marketing operations and member-centric services. The visit highlighted how the cooperative model has contributed to the growth of the dairy sector while ensuring benefits for producer members.

Participants also toured Sewni Primary Agricultural Credit Society (PACS), where they interacted with society representatives and learned about its role in extending credit, supplying agricultural inputs and delivering other essential services to farmers at the grassroots level.

The study tour concluded with a visit to the Surat District Cooperative Union, where officials explained its initiatives in cooperative education, training, capacity building and promotion of the cooperative movement in the district.

The training programme, aimed at strengthening knowledge on cooperative formation and management, is scheduled to conclude on June 25.
