NCUI to get 2022–2047 Strategy under Ministry’s New Study

Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah informed the Lok Sabha that the Ministry of Cooperation has undertaken four major national-level studies to drive comprehensive reforms and build a modern, future-ready cooperative ecosystem during Amrit Kaal.

Shah said a detailed study on the National Labour Cooperative Federation (NLCF), conducted through AFC India Ltd., has been completed. The report outlines a roadmap to transform NLCF into a business-driven federation by upgrading infrastructure, expanding services, and strengthening training systems.

He further told the House that the Ministry has also commissioned a long-term strategic study for the National Cooperative Union of India (NCUI) covering the period 2022–2047. Undertaken by AFC India Ltd., this study aims to ensure compliance with Section 24 of the MSCS Act, modernize cooperative education, boost governance standards, expand outreach, and craft a 25-year vision for NCUI’s national role.

Shah added that another national study has been launched to accelerate the growth of FISHCOPFED, targeting a 25% business expansion during Amrit Kaal through diversification, digital solutions, governance reforms, and strengthening fisheries cooperatives across six states.

The Minister said an Impact Assessment Study through LINAC has also been completed to evaluate ongoing initiatives, laying the groundwork for a more efficient and resilient cooperative sector.
