Considering the govt of India insisting on NCUI becoming self-reliant, the national apex cooperative body has rented a part of its space to the Warehouse Development Regulatory Authority (WDRA).
A press release from NCUI says Warehouse Development Regulatory Authority is a statutory Authority of the govt of India and is working for farmers’ welfare.
NCUI has signed a MOU with WDRA which falls under administrative control of Department of Food and Public Distribution for a period of 56 years.
This MOU was signed between Dr. Dinesh, Chief Executive, NCUI and Shri Ganesh Bakade, Director Administration & Finance WDRA. Those present on the occasion included G.C. Chaturvedi, I.A.S (Retd.) Chairman WDRA, Ranveer Singh J.S WDRA, N. Satya Narayana, Executive Director NCUI and other senior officials of WDRA and NCUI.
The MoU was signed after getting permission from DDA and other controlling authorities, claims the release.
Besides strengthening the Corpus Fund of NCUI, WDRA has paid an amount of Rs. 6.10 crore as lump-sum rent towards rent for the use of space. The sharing of space in the campus shall help them collaborate and work for the betterment of problems faced by the farming community in a more efficient manner, read the release.
Reliable sources confide that the fund- starved NCUI is signing MoU to rent out space only with the govt body as entry of private body leads to all kinds of controversies.
Earlier it rented out a floor to a PSU bank at the market rate. It is also in the process of subletting a part to NCCF, details of which have not been made available so far.
But it also has many unwanted squatters who are there without paying a penny to the NCUI. The apex body has shown no will to serve notice to such elements so far, claimed a source on condition of anonymity.
