The Coop Connect Division of NCUI, an apex organisation of Indian co-op movement in the country, conducted a one-day training program on Cooperation recently at Maharaja Surajmal Institute (MSI), Janakpuri, with enthusiastic participation from more than 50 students.
The event aimed to promote awareness about the cooperative movement in India, its significance, and opportunities for youth engagement.
Rajeev Sharma, Executive Director, NCUI while inaugurating the program elaborated on Cooperative values, principles, types, role and functions of NCUI and major initiatives and support schemes launched by the Ministry of Cooperation.
The second session was delivered by Anant Dubey, Deputy Director, NCUI who provided a comprehensive overview of the cooperative concept, procedural steps involved in forming a cooperative society, and the registration process.
Dubey also shared practical examples of successful cooperatives across sectors such as agriculture, credit, housing, and consumer goods. The students were also informed about the social media handles of the Ministry of Cooperation and NCUI for latest information and development in the cooperative sector.
These sessions were interactive and involved real-life case studies, which will help students better understand the practical aspects of starting and running a cooperative.
The event witnessed active engagement from the students, with several questions raised during both sessions, reflecting a deep interest in cooperative models and their applicability in today’s economy. Participants appreciated the real-world insights and expressed interest in exploring cooperative entrepreneurship in the future.
