NCP urges States, UTs to align policies with national vision

The newly launched National Cooperative Policy urges all States and Union Territories to formulate or reformulate their respective State Cooperative Policies in line with the national vision.

This collaborative strategy aims to foster synergy between the Central and State Governments, ensuring cohesive and coordinated growth of the cooperative movement across the country.

The policy encourages States and UTs to amend their Cooperative Societies Acts and Rules to promote greater autonomy, transparency, and ease of doing business. It emphasizes the need for autonomous functioning and democratic control in cooperatives, supported by strong legal and institutional frameworks.

Key provisions of the policy include the establishment of a time-bound and transparent service delivery mechanism, the conduct of free and fair elections for Boards and office bearers, and the introduction of transparent recruitment processes. It also advocates for democratic, data-driven decision-making across cooperative institutions.
