Meghalaya’s organic excellence took centre stage at the 4th World Organic Youth Summit and Northeast India Organic Week, where NCEL & Bharat Organics, NCOL highlighted the state’s finest produce before a global audience.

The event, inaugurated by APEDA, IFOAM–Organics Asia, and the Government of Meghalaya, brought together international buyers and sector leaders from Japan, New Zealand, Italy, Singapore, and South Korea.

From Lakadong turmeric to premium cashews and indigenous speciality crops, Meghalaya’s diverse organic basket drew significant attention for its quality and export potential. The summit emphasised the growing resilience of organic value chains across the Northeast, especially as global demand for sustainable, traceable, and chemical-free products continues to rise.

Cooperatives played a pivotal role at the platform, underscoring their contribution to farmer empowerment, collective marketing, and value-addition.
