In a major push to promote cooperative-driven exports from the Northeast, the National Cooperative Exports Limited (NCEL) signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Nagaland State Cooperative Marketing & Consumer Federation(MARCOFED) during the Nagaland Cooperative Conclave 2025 held in Kohima.
NCEL, the national-level body dedicated to strengthening India’s cooperative export ecosystem, said the partnership aims to unlock global market access for grassroots producers across Nagaland.
By integrating tribal artisans, small farmers and forest-based producer groups into export-oriented value chains, the collaboration seeks to create sustainable livelihood opportunities and ensure equitable income for rural communities.
Under the MoU, NCEL and MARCOFED will work together on capacity building, product development, quality enhancement, packaging, branding and market facilitation.
The focus will be on promoting Nagaland’s unique agri, horticulture, handloom and forest-based products in international markets through a cooperative framework.
