A comprehensive review meeting for Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) in Vellore district was successfully organized by the National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC) in collaboration with the Vellore District Central Cooperative Bank (VCCB), which serves as the Cluster-Based Business Organization (CBBO) for the region.
The meeting was chaired by Prabu Paulraj, Regional Director, NCDC, Chennai, and was attended by S. Ramadoss, Managing Director, VCCB & Joint Registrar, along with Jayaramachandran, Assistant Director, NCDC, Chennai.
Representatives from various FPOs and officials from the DCCB also participated in the session. The primary agenda of the meeting was to review the operational progress and performance of FPOs in the region.
Discussions focused on addressing key challenges, evaluating growth strategies, and identifying areas for strengthening the cooperative model in agriculture. Participants actively engaged in deliberations aimed at improving sustainability, governance, and market access for farmer-led enterprises.
This initiative reflects the shared commitment of NCDC and CBBOs to promote inclusive growth through farmer empowerment. By supporting the development of well-functioning FPOs, the organizations aim to foster sustainable rural livelihoods and build a resilient agricultural economy.
The review meeting concluded with renewed resolve among stakeholders to scale up support for FPOs and enhance their role as engines of cooperative-driven rural development.
