NCDC disbursed Rs 2,006.70cr to West Bengal

While giving written a reply to the query raised by Rajya Sabha Shanta Chhetri related to work done in the field of cooperation by Ministry of Cooperation in the West Bengal, Union Cooperation Minister Amit Shah said, “NCDC has disbursed an amount of Rs 2,006.70 crore in the State of West Bengal”.

“As on date, NCDC is implementing various schemes in the field of cooperation in the State of West Bengal wherein support for development of PACS as farm machinery hub, establishment of bank service points at PACS, income enhancement initiative for SHGs, rehabilitation of cooperative spinning mills, etc. have been provided across various districts in the State”, he added.

Shah further informed that, “Central Registrar of Cooperative Societies (CRCS) under Ministry of Cooperation registers Multi State Cooperative Societies which have presence in more than one State. Headquarters of 69 Multi State Cooperative Societies are situated in the State of West Bengal”.

In order to revitalize the cooperative sector, bringing transparency, modernization, computerization, creating competitive cooperatives and deepening their reach to the grassroots across the country, including the State West Bengal, the Ministry of Cooperation is implementing various schemes.

“Project for Computerization of 63,000 Primary Agriculture Credit Societies (PACS) across the country at a total estimated cost of Rs. 2,516 Crore. Financial assistance of Rs 341.67 Cr in the Year 2021-22 and Rs 47.9 Crore in the current year, in the form of subsidy/grant to the Cooperative societies under erstwhile CSISAC Scheme for the cooperative sector”, Shah underlined.
