The National Council for Cooperative Training (NCCT) currently operates 20 cooperative training institutes across India, including the apex Vaikunth Mehta National Institute of Cooperative Management (VAMNICOM), Pune, five Regional Institutes of Cooperative Management (RICMs) and 14 Institutes of Cooperative Management (ICMs), Union Minister for Cooperation Amit Shah informed Parliament.
In a written reply, the Minister said NCCT provides training support to all States and Union Territories, with RICMs and ICMs catering to regions where no institute exists. To further strengthen cooperative education, the Government has established Tribhuvan Sahkari University (TSU) and requested all States to affiliate at least one institute with it.
Over the last five financial years, the Centre has sanctioned and released Rs 241.05 crore to NCCT-run institutes. During this period, NCCT conducted 270 diploma programmes, training 9,566 participants across sectors including cooperative business management, computer applications, dairy, industrial cooperatives and urban cooperative banking.
Additionally, NCCT and its institutes organised 13,262 short-term training programmes between 2020-21 and 2024-25, benefiting over 8.11 lakh participants.
The Minister said NCCT continues to play a key role in strengthening professional management and human resources across the cooperative sector nationwide.
