The Wednesday meeting of Union Minister Amit Shah with the co-operators connected to the apex body NCUI, also threw up a host of issues including that of NCCT coming back to NCUI. The issue has a high emotional quotient for old timers at NCUI.
NCUI Vice President K Sivsadan Nair raised the issue before the Minister and wanted to know the government’s stand on the issue. Amit Shah is quoted as saying that the issue would be taken up once the process of setting up the proposed Cooperative University takes shape.
The proposed University will have in all likelihood NCCT under it, as would many other co-op training institutes of the country, said sources.
Talking to the Indian Cooperative, NCUI President Dileep Sanghani, however ,sounded confident that NCCT is coming into NCUI fold. “Both the Prime Minister and the Cooperation Minister are of the view that being the apex body, NCUI should have control over NCCT ”, stated Sanghani, who welcomed Amit Shah into his chamber as soon as the formal meeting was over.
It bears recalling that NCUI had received a letter from the Agriculture Ministry in February 2018 with the title “Establishing National Council of Cooperative Training (NCCT) as an independent, Central and Professional entity-delinking from National Cooperative Union of India.
