In a significant move towards strengthening domestic pulse production, NCCF has initiated organised procurement of masoor (lentil) in Bihar for the first time, marking a milestone under the Atmanirbhar Pulses Mission.
The initiative aims to integrate farmers into a structured procurement system while ensuring assured price support under the MSP framework.
To support the effort, scientific storage facilities through WDRA-approved warehouses have been deployed in collaboration with the Central Warehousing Corporation, ensuring quality preservation and efficient stock management.
As of April 22, 2026, Bihar has set a procurement target of 32,000 MT of masoor. So far, 16 PACS and FPOs have been registered, with 59 farmers onboarded into the system. Procurement operations have already commenced, with 100.4 MT of masoor purchased.
Meanwhile, NAFED is preparing to scale up procurement under the Price Support Scheme, further strengthening the cooperative-led procurement network across the state.
